Form E311 Declaration Card - Canada
What Is Form E311?
Form E311, Declaration Card , is required to be completed by all visitors or residents returning from out of the country prior to being allowed to enter Canada.

This form is used to track all incoming goods, items, food, and other items entering the country to ensure illegal or illicit items are not brought in. For residents who have left the country for a short time (twenty-four hours or up to seven days) and are claiming goods for less than $200 or $800 dollars respectively (excluding alcohol and tobacco), they can be granted an exemption to completing this form. Be aware that if you are found to have imported goods into Canada without properly declaring them you could face fines, seizure of the goods, or even criminal proceedings.

Canada Declaration Card Instructions
To complete the Canada Declaration Card, you will need to provide the following information across three different parts:
- Part A requires the full name of each person traveling in your party, their date of birth, citizenship, and home address. If there are people in your party who reside at an address different from your own, they will need to complete their own Canada Declaration Form. Indicate the method of travel by which you are arriving, including the name of the airline or flight number, train number, or ship vessel name. State the purpose of your trip (either study, personal, or business) and the country you are arriving from. Part A also includes a section with examples of items that you will need to declare when crossing the border. There is a separate rule regarding the maximum amount of alcohol and tobacco each resident of Canada can bring in as long as they are of age.
- Part B will ask for the number of days you will be in the country and if anyone in your party has exceeded the duty-free exemptions allowed per person.
- If you have any goods that exceed the limits listed in Part A you will need to declare the additional items and amounts in Part C.
- Sign and date the form in Part D.
