DEALER INFORMATION REGARDING 31-DAY PERMITS
This special permit, issued pursuant to Minnesota Statute 168.091, will allow the non-resident purchaser
31 days from the date of sale to remove the vehicle from Minnesota to the purchaser's home state.
Minnesota Statute 168A.11 Subd.1E states: With respect to vehicles sold to buyers who will remove the vehicle
from this state, the dealer shall remove any license plates from the vehicle, issue a 31-day temporary permit
pursuant to section 168.091, and notify the registrar within 48 hours of the sale that the vehicle has been removed
from this state. The notification must be made in an electronic format prescribed by the registrar. Because you are
updating the information electronically, please do NOT send a copy of the 31-day permit to the state. Instead, keep
it with your files. The dealer may contract with a deputy registrar for the notification of sale to an out-of-state buyer.
The applicant agrees that all 31-Day Temporary Permits will be used only as provided by law.
