Jersey Size Chart: What Is It?

A Jersey Size Chart is a list of measurements that describe the size of a shirt traditionally worn by athletes or fans of a certain sports team. Whether this gear is essential for your training and performance on the pitch or you are looking for a clothing item that demonstrates your loyalty to a team, it is important to select the right size of a jersey and feel comfortable while wearing it; a chart that records the sizes will assist you when you are shopping.

How to Measure Jersey Size?

The tips we have prepared will show you how to measure jerseys before you commit to a purchase and how to improve the experience of your clients if you sell sports gear:

  1. Use a flexible measuring tape and check how wide the circumferences of your chest and waist are. You have to measure yourself while you are wearing underwear or tight clothes otherwise the jersey will not fit you properly. Once you have found out the results, write them down, convert them to inches or centimeters if necessary, and compare the numbers to the information from a Jersey Size Chart offered by the retail store or online shop.

  2. Refer to an illustration or photo of a jersey to explain where the measurements must be taken - it usually depicts the front and the back of the jersey to point out where the buyer needs to measure their chest, waist, and the length of the back. The seller should note that a chart that includes visual instructions is a great opportunity to promote the goods or the jerseys of a particular sporting team or brand.

  3. If you are selling sports jerseys, it is a good idea to offer your customers visual guides that will help them make the right choice for their build which is often determined by gender. Prepare a Men's Jersey Size Chart and a separate Women's Jersey Size Chart in case you are selling garments tailored to fit men and women instead of uniform jerseys that will work for any person. Remind your female customers that women's jerseys tend to be tighter around the chest and waist so if a woman is looking for a wider jersey, she should order one size up for a looser fit.

  4. Remember that there are different sizing systems used to measure jerseys designed for adults and children. If you are shopping for a jersey your kid will wear on the pitch or in their spare time representing the team they support, you cannot rely on sizes that reflect the body of an adult person. Ask the seller whether they have a Youth Jersey Size Chart available - it is likely you will opt for a larger size if the child is growing and you want them to wear the same jersey for a longer time.
