Homework Planner: What Is It?

A Homework Planner is a detailed list of schoolwork a student must study on their own outside of a classroom.

Alternate Names:

  • Student Homework Planner;
  • School Homework Planner;
  • Homework Plan.

This instrument will allow you to tackle all the homework efficiently and allocate enough time to other entertaining activities. Besides, a planner that covers all types of homework a student is obliged to do by a certain time is a perfect tool for young children and their parents - teach your kid the basics of time management and worry less about their ability to handle challenging assignments they get at school.

How to Make a Homework Planner?

Follow these recommendations to make your own Homework Planner from scratch:

  1. Create a spreadsheet to track your homework. It is up to you to decide how to organize information on the page whether these are separate sheets or a notebook that contains all your assignments. It is advised to record the names of all the subjects, specify what you are supposed to do to prepare for class, and indicate the deadline if there is one. You may also set a reminder if you are using a digital version of the planner or mark the date when you have to submit an essay or presentation with a sticker or bookmark.

  2. Make sure there is a reasonable study schedule you can observe - and not only during the first week of using a Homework Plan. Once you have all the assignments in front of you, calculate how many hours and minutes each of them will take, devote enough time for them after you come back home from school or during the weekend, and confirm there will be breaks during your study sessions.

  3. Figure out whether you can add more time for studying in your schedule. Analyze the upcoming week - maybe a long trip is coming or you are going to spend significant time waiting in line; you should utilize this time to do your homework. Feature those plans in your schedule and see if you can give yourself some breaks at other times.

  4. In order to stay on top of all the homework you have, add a small column next to every row that contains the description of the assignment - leave it empty until you are done and tick the box once you are sure there is no need to fix or review what you have written, composed, or calculated.

  5. Regularly go back to the previous entries in your Student Homework Planner. Look at the time you have spent on an assignment if you believe there will be similar tasks in the future - for example, if you managed to deal with a certain assignment quicker than expected, you should adjust your schedule for future study sessions. You can also insert a notes section to write down the remarks related to the homework in case particular rules or choices are going to matter later.
