Requirements for Certification of Conformity with State and Federal Statutes
Dear Applicant:
Thank you for your interest in obtaining a Connecticut Manufacturer's License. The Department of Motor
Vehicles (DMV) will require that you:
Provide photographs depicting the motor vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds or motor driven cycles,
including three wheeled vehicles, trailers, buses or heavy trucks that you intend to offer for sale
in the State of Connecticut;
Provide certification by a licensed engineer that all motor vehicles, motorcycles, trailers, buses or
heavy trucks that are offered for sale in Connecticut are in full compliance with all applicable
Connecticut General Statutes and Federal Motor Safety Standards (FMVSS) 49 CFR Part 571,
and other applicable Federal laws or regulations. DMV reserves the right to review test results
from any and all testing.
DMV's current review will be based only upon the model or models that you are currently submitting. If
your company intends to release any new and/or additional models, DMV's approval will be required and
it will be necessary for you to repeat the certification process for each new and/or additional model(s).
Please note that while some vehicles may be in compliance with all required motor vehicle standards,
they may not be able to be registered in the State of Connecticut. It is your responsibility to determine
whether a vehicle qualifies to be registered in this state and require your dealers to inform customers
accordingly.
The Regulated Business License Division will contact you if there are questions pertaining to your
application.
