• Livestock transport biosecurity
 Protocols have been developed and implemented pertaining to transport
biosecurity to contain or exclude the virus within the affected premises
 Protocols have been developed for cleaning and/or disinfecting vehicles for
certain animal movements (required for verification of biosecurity payments)
 Line of separation is in place for all animals and people entering and leaving
premises
 Protocols for loading/unloading animals that attempt to minimize virus
introduction have been developed and implemented
• Cleaning and disinfection of facilities
 Protocols for pathogen reduction have been developed and
implemented to reduce environmental viral load
 Use of an effective disinfectant (required for verification of biosecurity
payments)
 Follow appropriate downtimes after cleaning and disinfection
 Where possible, use all-in and all-out production practices
• Diagnostic testing to monitor status of the herd infection and assess efficacy of control
strategies
 Protocols have been developed and implemented to establish stabilization
and monitoring for the affected premises (monitoring may include submission of
samples to a diagnostic laboratory for testing)
• Maintenance of records on pig movement
 Movements of pigs on and off the premises are routinely recorded
