What Is Form IT-196?
Form IT-196, New York Resident, Nonresident, and Part-Year Resident Itemized Deductions , is a document released by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for filing 2019 taxes in 2020. The form is used to compute your itemized deduction. To itemize, you can subtract a part of your medical expenses, casualty losses, and theft losses as well as your unreimbursed employee business expenses.
