Leprechaun Hat: What Is It?

A Leprechaun Hat refers to a head covering traditionally associated with a leprechaun - an Irish folklore character famous for his naughtiness. How to Draw a Leprechaun Hat?

Here are some tips you may take into account when working on a Leprechaun Hat template:

1. Draw a hat on the sheet of paper - a two-dimensional drawing is usually small yet we suggest you use pencils for a draft illustration if later you are going to transfer the template to fabric or similar materials. Select the shade of green you like or experiment with colors - the latter idea is great if you are going to decorate the house with many hats or attend a party where most people will be dressed as leprechauns; Leprechaun Hat patterns may also include images of shamrocks, rainbows, pots of gold, and other symbols related to Irish myths and legends.

2. If you have an opportunity to purchase a ready-made hat that already has a Leprechaun Hat outline, you should only add certain details to prepare it for the party. It is perfect if you get a green hat but any other color works too - it is easy to change the color of the hat with the help of spray paint or similar tools used to color relatively large surfaces. After that, you may only design a belt with a buckle for the hat - cut a strip of paper to wrap it around the brim of the hat and draw a rectangle to put on the front of the hat. It is up to you to choose colors of the belt - while black and yellow remain favorites the buckle may also contain the colors of the Irish flag or you may attach a small flag or sticker to it. Once the strip of paper is measured properly and cut out, glue it to the hat - alternatively, sew the elements together if the material is suitable for this.

3. Make a paper Leprechaun Hat from scratch using thick paper - spare construction paper will come in handy. A rectangle should be put in the shape of a cylinder - glue the edges together. The top part of the hat can be green while the bottom is usually dark - this is the belt, and you may attach a yellow rectangle to it creating a buckle. Two circles - one of them solid, the other hollow - made out of the same green paper and glued to the top and the bottom of the hat will complete your work.
