* In accordance with Section 19-13-B51k(b) of the RCSA, yield tests performed on newly constructed
wells must be conducted by a well contractor. Section 19-13-B51b(2) defines a well contractor as
“any person, firm or corporation drilling or constructing a water supply well.”
Note: The safe yield of a bedrock well is equal to 90% of the yield test pump rate at the stabilized
drawdown. In accordance with Section 19-13-B51k(b) of the RCSA, test pumping for newly
constructed wells shall be continuous at a constant rate for the period required, and drawdown shall
be stable for the last twelve hours prior to the completion of the test (24 hours for CPCN projects).
Refer to the General Terms for Well Use Approval document for the required yield test duration.
The following items must be measured during the yield test and recorded on the yield test log sheet:
i. Depth at which pump was set (measured from the established ground surface).
ii. Static water level in well before pumping (measured from the established ground
surface).
iii. Time, pump rate, and drawdown (at least hourly).
iv. Time and water levels after pump has been shut down until well has recovered back
to static water level.
The following table has been provided for use as the yield test log:
