Burn Permit Application: Special
A special burn permit is for burning that does not qualify as either:
• Agricultural burning – burning of orchard trees, open fields, harvest debris
• Land clearing – burning of trees, stumps, shrubs, other natural vegetation from land clearing
Burning is not allowed in urban growth areas (http://www.ofm.wa.gov/pop/smallarea/maps/uninc_uga/) or areas
with 1000+ people per square mile (http://www.ofm.wa.gov/pop/popden/default.asp).
Burning is only one way to dispose of vegetation. Before you are issued a burn permit, you must consider
alternatives to burning and show that there are no reasonable alternatives. If you decide burning is the only
alternative, fill out and sign this application, then email/mail/fax it to the Ecology office for your county.
