This fire training burn permit is only for structural fire training. For other types of fire training, contact Ecology.
A permit is required for all structural training fires located within urban growth areas
(http://www.ofm.wa.gov/pop/smallarea/maps/uninc_uga/) or in cities with 10,000+ people
(http://www.ofm.wa.gov/pop/popden/default.asp).
All fire agencies must comply with federal asbestos abatement requirements.

You must notify adjoining property owners and other potentially affected people before burning. Describe how
you will notify them (for example, mailing flyers, advertising in local newspapers, etc.).
Asbestos Requirements
40 CFR 61.145: Any asbestos removal work must comply with the federal rule.
To meet asbestos removal requirements:
• A certified asbestos inspector must inspect for asbestos before the proposed burn. Asbestos must be
removed before burning.
• The owner of the building, the asbestos abatement contractor (if asbestos is to be removed by the
contractor), or the fire agency must submit an “Asbestos Notification of Demolition and Renovation” form
(https://yosemite.epa.gov/r10/owcm.nsf/webpage/asbestos+in+demolition+and+renovation) to Ecology or
the local clean air agency at least 10 working days before asbestos removal or the burn training occurs.
