Canasta Score Sheet: What Is It?

A Canasta Score Sheet is used to keep track of any points earned by a player when playing the popular Canasta card game.

The game is usually played between four players of which they are then divided into two teams meaning each team will have two players. The aim of the game is to form melds and collect points. There are also additional bonus cards that can provide each player with an additional number of points, depending on the card for example:

• A joker is worth fifty points;
• 2's are worth twenty points;
• Aces are worth twenty points;
• Anything between an eight and a king is worth a total of ten points;
• Any cards between four and seven will give you five points;
• A black three will also give you five points;
• A red three will give you one hundred points.

The more canastas you get (a meld of seven), the more points you will receive. There are different types of canasta's depending on the "purity" of each canasta. As there are many points and many combinations, it is important to keep a careful and detailed record of all points obtained by each player.
