How to Make Halloween Cards?

Making your own Halloween Cards not only allows you to personalize the card but it also gives you the opportunity to show off your originality and incorporate your own ideas into the process and decorations.

If you have decided to make Halloween cards from scratch, you should start with:

  • Find an A4 piece of colored card that will be the basis for the Halloween card. We would recommend using Halloween themed colors such as orange or black;
  • Fold the A4 card carefully and neatly in a straight line;
  • Prepare all other materials that you may need. To do this, you need an understanding of what you want to include on the front of your card. Perhaps you may opt for a Halloween image and a “HAPPY HALLOWEEN” title to congratulate the recipient;
  • The title may be handwritten, printed in a spooky font, or maybe even written in glitter;
  • Glue the image(s) that you have selected and try to create a composition using the images. Alternatively, if you have decided to print a black and white template of a Halloween Card you can just simply color the card in Halloween associated colors;
  • If you have used an image of a ghost, witch, mummy, or zombie perhaps you may want to add some googly eyes to imitate moving eyeballs;
  • For the inside of the card, you should decide on the style you want to go for. You can simply include a handwritten congratulatory message or maybe a printed one instead. Alternatively, you can include a corny Halloween joke (there are many out there) or create a pop-up of a ghost to give the recipient a slight fright;
  • Do not forget to sign the card so that the recipient knows who exactly the card is from as they can receive many cards during a Halloween party.

What to Write in a Halloween Card?

If you are stuck on what to write in a Halloween Card, we have some great Halloween Card ideas for cool and whacky messages. Below are some top tips to consider when writing your Halloween Cards:

  • Firstly, make sure that your message is short and sweet. Unlike Christmas Cards where you may want to go into detail and give some lengthier, warm wishes you may find that messages in Halloween cards are much shorter and less serious;
  • What room does a ghost not need in a house? A living room! That’s right, you can always include a short and cheesy joke that although may not be the funniest, will guarantee to put a smile on the face of the recipient;
  • Jokes aside, this does not mean that you cannot write a heartfelt message in your card. If you want to say thank you to someone or just have some kind words for someone, do not feel uncomfortable about writing them down in the card;
  • If you are writing a Halloween card for children, you can write them a wish concerning a Halloween party that they will be attending or wish them luck in the trick-or-treating experience which is probably the most fun part of the night for children;
  • No matter who you are addressing the card to or what the purpose is – you will always need to state who the card is to. This makes the recipient feel extremely grateful as they know that this card was specifically created for them;
  • Likewise, you should always make sure to sign your name so that your recipient knows who the card is from and can look back on it in many years to come and cherish the memory of a great Halloween. For this reason, you may also want to include the date.
