Sample "Debt Validation Letter"

A Debt Validation Letter is a written statement composed by an individual or entity and sent to a financial institution that notified them about the debt to find out whether this debt is legitimate. You are entitled to learn all the details about your debt and your credit history in general. If you received any demands from the bank or the debt collector regarding the debt repayment, you should contact them and confirm the debt is real or request them to stop harassing you if you believe you do not owe any money.

You can download a Debt Validation Letter Sample via the link below. It is possible to customize it to suit your needs but at a minimum, it should identify you, refer to the letter or call you received with the demands to repay the debt, and ask for the name of the original creditor and the documentation that verifies your financial obligations. In case your debt is confirmed, you will have to repay it. However, if the debt collector or bank is unable to provide you with the information you asked for, it is your right to question the validity of the debt.
