Sample Eviction Response Letter

Sample Eviction Response Letter

An Eviction Response Letter is a written statement prepared by the tenant who has received an eviction notice from their landlord to agree with the upcoming eviction or contest it. If you are asked to vacate the premises because you did not make rental payments on time or failed to respect the terms of your rent, you may ask the landlord for deferred payment, installments, or another chance to show you are a good tenant. However, if you think the landlord has made a mistake in the notice, you have the right to challenge the eviction and avoid moving out for the foreseeable time.

An Eviction Response Letter Sample is available for download below. To draft a successful letter, the tenant should address the landlord and confirm they have received the eviction notice. It is possible to agree to the eviction if you believe the landlord is right; otherwise, ask them to provide you with additional documentation that proves you have violated the conditions of the original rental agreement. In case you have complied with all the rules, you may dispute the eviction. Sign the response and give it to the landlord the same way the eviction notice was delivered to you.
