Notary Acknowledgment Form - California

A California Notary Acknowledgment Form is an acknowledgment form acting as an affidavit that is added to a legal document. The California Notary Acknowledgment can only be filled in by a notary public or any other official that has the right to confirm the authenticity of signatures. This is the main function of the document - to confirm that the signatures within the document are genuine. The notary public must also verify the identities of the people that are signing the document to make sure that the appropriate people sign it and that they are signing it under free will i.e. with no pressure from anyone else.

We would also recommend that people sign the document in front of the notary public rather than bring them a ready signed document that was signed prior to the meeting. Although this is not a legal requirement, it could avoid any future complications.

The document is considered legally binding once the notary public signs the document and attaches their official seal.
