- Maryland Generic Bill of Sale. This document is normally used when selling or buying personal property. Maryland does not have any state-issued form for this purpose;
- Maryland Vehicle Bill of Sale. The Maryland Department of Transportation, Motor Vehicle Administration issued an official Form VR-181 that you must fill out in order to document the sale of a car;
- Maryland Boat Bill of Sale. Form DNR B-118, Bill of Sale for a Vessel is an official state-issued form released by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Licensing & Registration Service. It is a part of the required documentation that substantiates the sale of a boat;
- Maryland Gun Bill of Sale. Complete this document to record the details of the firearm sale. The State does not offer any government-released form you can use for this purpose.

Does Maryland Require a Bill of Sale?
You are required to fill out a Bill of Sale in Maryland only in two cases:
- During the sale of a watercraft;
- During the sale of a vehicle.
The state agencies will need these documents in order to issue the registration for your new car or boat. In all the other cases, a bill of sale is optional. You may prefer to fill it out in order to record the main information about the sale. The buyers usually want to complete this document to have written evidence they legally purchased the described item. The sellers keep it to prove they transferred the ownership of the indicated property and are not responsible for property and its usage anymore.
