Per your request, an internal review has been completed regarding the substantiation of the allegation(s) listed above.
Based upon this review, it has been determined that a related case is pending in a Superior Court for Criminal or Juvenile
Matters. An internal review shall be deferred pending disposition of any court proceeding arising from above
allegation of child abuse or neglect that is the subject of the internal review unless you file a written objection
to such deferral. Should action by the court result in a ruling that substantially supports the investigation finding, there
will be no right to a review of this investigation and the substantiation will be upheld.
You have the right to object to DCF’s decision to defer the internal review pending the disposition of your court proceeding
and to have DCF conduct the internal review before that court case is disposed. If you object to the deferral, you must
contact DCF in writing within 30 days of the date of this letter.
Your objection should be mailed to:
Legal Division
Department of Children and Families
505 Hudson Street
Hartford, CT 06106
The allegation(s) against you may or may not be disclosed to third parties depending on the severity of the allegation or
in accordance with state or federal law, pending the conclusion of your court case(s) and the subsequent review, if
necessary.
If the internal review is deferred, it is your responsibility to notify DCF that the court matter has concluded and
you would like to proceed with the appeal process. If you do not notify DCF within three years of the deferral of
the case, the allegations shall remain in the Department's record as substantiated. If your name is placed on the
Central Registry, DCF will be allowed to disclose the information in accordance with Connecticut General
Statutes, sections 17a-28 and 17a-101k.
