ATF Form 9, Application and Permit for Permanent Exportation of Firearms (National Firearms Act) - also known as the ATF E-Form 9 or the ATF Form 5320.9 - is a form used to request an exemption from transfer tax and permission to export firearms regulated by the National Firearms Act (NFA).
The most recent version of the form was issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) on March 1, 2018. A fillable ATF Form 9 is available for download below. The main step in preparing to file the form is obtaining a license for exportation from either the Department of State or the Department of Commerce. If the license is not required, a statement to that effect must be attached.
NFA firearms include the following: shotguns with a barrel or barrels less than 18 inches in length, firearms, made of shotguns, rifles with a barrel or barrels less than 16 inches in length, weapons, made of such rifles, and silencers. The act also covers various destructive devices: missiles, grenades, bombs, and other similar devices.
