Arizona Game and Fish Boat Bill of Sale

The Arizona Watercraft Bill of Sale is a legal proof that the boat was sold and purchased. It may serve as a receipt for the payment made by the buyer and is a legally binding agreement that protects both the seller and the buyer from potentially fraudulent claims. The buyer must submit the completed and signed document to the nearest office of the Arizona Game and Fish Department along with the completed registration application, payment of the registration fee, and either the manufacturer's statement of origin (if the buyer registers a new boat) or the current registration containing the signature of the previous owner.

How to Sell a Boat in Arizona? {id="mcetoc_1dscalk150"}

The boat owners who want to sell their watercraft in Arizona must prepare the Arizona Boat Bill of Sale. The completion of this form is required by the Arizona state laws. It must contain all the basic information necessary for the registration of the boat. At a minimum, it must include:

  • Name of the seller;
  • Name of the buyer;
  • Name of the manufacturer of the indicated boat, if known;
  • Hull identification number, also known as HIN. It is a permanent serial number that consists of 12 letters and digits and serves for unique identification of your boat. Note that a homemade boat or a boat manufactured before November 1, 1972, are exempted from this requirement by R12-4-505;
  • The amount the buyer has paid for the boat;
  • Amount of sales taxes paid if the watercraft is bought at an auction or from a dealer;
  • Signature of the seller or sellers.

It is also recommended to enter the addresses of both the seller and the buyer (including city, state, and ZIP-code), the date of sale, and the description of the watercraft sold (including the boat registration number and the state it was issued in, the year the indicated watercraft was manufactured, and the length of the boat).

Does a Boat Bill of Sale Have to Be Notarized in Arizona? {id="mcetoc_1dscalk151"}

The document is considered valid after the seller signs it. It does not require any additional certification by a notary public. All the watercraft owners who sell their boats in Arizona must inform the Arizona Game and Fish Department about the sale within 15 days.
