How to Make a Home Inventory Spreadsheet?

A sample home inventory spreadsheet can be presented in the form of a timetable, where all of the items are systematized based on which room they are located in. Each sheet can include several parts, such as:

  1. Name . In the first part of the document, the individual can designate their full name for identification purposes.

  2. Property Address . Individuals should also include the property address in their spreadsheet.

  3. Date . It is necessary to state the date when the document was made and change the date each time the list has been modified.

  4. Room . Here, individuals can designate the name of the room they are describing. This section of the spreadsheet can consist of several columns, such as:

    • Item . Individuals can use this part of the document to list the items that are located in the room stated above;
    • Manufacturer . To describe the item, individuals can state some of its characteristics. One of the first ones to mention should be the item's manufacturer;
    • Model, Serial Number . Another feature that should be indicated is it the items model or serial number (or both). It will help to drastically narrow down the number of replacements the insurance company will be able to offer the individual if they will be eligible for insurance coverage;
    • Purchased Price . The individual should also include the date when they bought the item and the price they paid for it.
  5. Summary . In the last part of the spread, the individual can designate the estimated value of all of the items for each room and there total.

For convenience, the individual should save all the documents that confirm the purchase prices of the items that are included in the home inventory spreadsheet, and keep them attached to it. Apart from keeping a paper copy of the spreadsheet at home, individuals can also have an electronic version of it in case they will need to update it.
