Sample "Appeal Letter for Loan Modification Denial"

An Appeal Letter for Loan Modification Denial is a document that you can use if you applied for a loan modification and got a rejection. The purpose of the document is to inform a bank (or another financial institution that has given you a loan) that you would like them to review their decision not to modify your loan condition.

Before writing a Loan Modification Denial Appeal Letter you should thoroughly read the rejection letter that you have received from your creditor. Based on what they said there, you can construct your appeal letter. A sample Appeal Letter for Loan Modification Denial can be downloaded below.

Even though the main part of your appeal letter will depend on the rejection letter, there are still some essential parts that your letter must contain:

  1. Information About the Sender and the Addressee. In the first part of the document, you can identify yourself and the creditor.
  2. Introduction. You can use this section of the letter to refer to the rejection letter you received.
  3. Appeal Details. To convince the creditor to review their decision you should provide them with valid proof of your point of view.
  4. Conclusion. At the end of the letter, you can express your hope to hear from the creditor soon.

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing this letter to dispute a denial of the loan modification application that I
made on June 12, 2021. A loan modification would allow me to continue to make my
mortgage payments. When I was approved for my loan, my gross income was $5000
per month, and my mortgage payment was $1500 per month. Due to the impact of the
stay-at-home order resulting from the Coronavirus pandemic, my monthly income
dropped to $3000. My mortgage payment is now 50% of my monthly income.
[An explanation of why you believe the denial of a loan modification was in
error.]
Once again, I would like to restate that I have done some calculations and have
determined that I could continue to honor my obligation to you if you were to grant
me a payment reduction to $900 per month, which would be 30% of my monthly
income.
I can be reached at [Phone] or [Email], and will gladly supply any documents you
require.
Sincerely,
Barbara Black
