Paper Doll Template: What Is It?
A Paper Doll refers to a toy in the shape of a human being made from paper to be dressed in clothes made from the same material. This is an affordable and eco-friendly alternative to dolls made from plastic - not only you can create a doll that looks just the way you want in the comfort of your home but also you are making a choice for a more sustainable toy that safeguards the health of the child.

How to Make a Paper Doll?
Here is how you may create a DIY Paper Doll using a simple sheet of paper:

Draw the outline of the doll - you may start with thin paper and later trace your drawings on cardboard or similar durable material. Note that the body of the doll should be thicker to ensure it stays intact through all the changes of clothes while the additional items made of paper can have only one layer and be rather thin.

Color the skin of the doll and add all the facial features. There is no need to make an anatomically correct drawing of the body since it will be covered with clothes - and you do not have to draw long hair either so that the child can experiment with paper wigs that attach to the head of the doll.

Consider making a doll with moving arms and legs - if you picked cardboard as the base material, you may connect the body parts with small pins, as long as it is safe enough for the kid for whom you are making the toy. The freedom of movement will allow you to create more elaborate dresses and costumes - for instance, you may reveal a fun caption on the doll's shirt by raising its arms and moving the jacket.

Cut out the Paper Doll template or let the child do it safely with scissors. Make sure you measure the size of future garments before cutting them out as well – and do not forget to add small rectangles on the top and on both sides of the item to serve as holding tabs.

It does not have to be its entire wardrobe but a few garments that need to be colored is a great idea since it allows the child to express their creativity and choose the colors they would like to see on the doll in question. This way, you can give them an opportunity to paint and to play dress up with their own designs.
