How to Write a Dispute Letter to the Credit Bureau?

To write a Credit Bureau Dispute Letter you will want to include the following information:

  1. Your full name and address.

  2. Today's date.

  3. The name and full address of the Credit Reporting Agency's Complaint Department.

  4. Opening greeting.

  5. Begin with a statement about why you are writing, that you have found one or multiple errors in your credit report, and that you will need these items corrected immediately to avoid any issues later.

  6. In the letter, you will need to state that you are attaching a copy of the credit report and have highlighted or circled the issues that need to be resolved.

    • Describe in detail if the issue is from a judgment, credit account, past rental agreement, etc. You will also need to explain if the information is incorrect or incomplete and how you would like the matter resolved (either have the missing information completed or incorrect statement removed).
