Sublease Agreement Template - California

Use a California Sublease Agreement to define the terms of the contract signed between the tenant and the subtenant, whether it is a single individual, family, or, if the rental unit is used for commercial purposes, a company, in order to create a sublease. If you plan to go on a long vacation or you cannot make rent payments to the landlord anymore, it may be a good idea to find a third party who will occupy the premises in question for a limited time or the entire term of the lease.

Contact the landlord and ask them whether the sublease option is available in case you have omitted this provision in the original agreement - if the landlord refuses, the prospective subtenant may have to take your place as the lessee; either way, the landlord's position will not change and they will be able to receive regular payments from the tenant or the third party that moves in the rented premises.
