Arizona Firearm Bill of Sale Requirements

Arizona Firearm Bills of Sale are not required by any official procedures. They are created and signed for convenience of the seller and the buyer, as well as for their mutual protection from possible fraudulent claims regarding the transaction. The state of Arizona does not provide any legal requirements or recommendations regarding their format and content.

However, in order to save yourself from any potential disputes in the future, make sure your document includes:

1. Information about the seller or sellers. At a minimum, indicate their full name and address, including city, state, and ZIP-code. The driver's licenses number can also be added;
2. Information about the buyer or buyers;
3. Description of the firearm to be transferred. The document should contain the make, model, caliber, serial number, and any additional details that may be useful for the firearm's identification. If the firearm has any defects, enlist them as well;
4. Sale price. Enter the amount both in words and in numbers and specify the payment method (cash, check, credit card, or any other method);
5. Transaction details. Provide the date the transaction took place and the payment conditions. If the buyer does not pay the whole sum at once, the dates of the due payments should be specified. You are also advised to indicate if this is an "absolute" bill of sale (the ownership is transferred to the buyer completely without any additional conditions or restrictions) or a "conditional" one (the ownership is transferred if the certain conditions are fulfilled);
6. Additional details. If the transaction is made under special conditions, enlist all of them in the bill of sale, too;
7. Warranty. The document should contain a disclaimer clarifying if the buyer purchases the described firearm "as-is", or if the seller provides any warranty;
8. Signatures. To be valid, the document must contain the signatures of the sellers and the buyers, as well as the dates the document was signed. If the buyers or the sellers want extra protection, they may add a block for witnesses' signatures and have the bill of sale certified by a notary public.
