This document will release the seller from further responsibility for the sold gun and will be a buyer's protection against any fraudulent claims that may occur in the future.

To write a Firearm Bill of Sale, you need to take the following steps:

1. State the full names, physical addresses, and driver's license numbers of both parties of the agreement;
2. Indicate all the details that may identify the gun: its model, make, caliber, serial number. If it has any defects, inform the purchaser about them. If the firearm has any accessories, customizations or alterations, mention them in this section as well;
3. Write down the terms of the deal - the price, payment method, and date and location of the sale. You are free to negotiate additional provisions with the other party and list them on the document if you wish;
4. Provide guarantees and warranties. This provision states whether the firearm is being sold "as is" - in its current condition - or with additional implied or given guarantees. Usually, the purchaser accepts the gun with all possible defects and issues that exist at the time of the deal;
5. Sign the papers. Make copies for the record keeping. The new owner must receive the original Bill of Sale, and it is the only needed document to prove the firearm has changed ownership.
