PA Bill of Sale Requirements

Pennsylvania authorities do not provide any specific forms for the sale of personal property. The paperwork is filled out mainly for the convenience of the buyer and the seller. It should, therefore, contain basic information about the parties and the sold item.

Pennsylvania Bills of Sale should contain the following details:

  • The full names of the seller and the buyer, their drivers' licenses numbers, and physical addresses (including the city and the state);
  • A description of the property that is purchased (including the color, serial number, model, and any other details that help to identify a particular item).

It is recommended to provide the other party with as much information about the purchased item as possible, including the trade price of the item. The item price should be entered in the USD amount written both in words and numbers. If you wish to give property as a gift or donation, specify that in the Pennsylvania Bill of Sale as well. Indicate the date of the contract and payment (MM/DD/YYYY format). Make sure you sign the document.

Another crucially important part of the document is the seller's disclaimer stating a careful review of the existing defects of the item. Indicate you accept the item as is in order to avoid any possible complaints and misunderstandings. After the completion of the document, the seller and the buyer sign the document in front of a notary. The buyer receives the original Bill of Sale and the seller retains a copy of the document. Now the change of ownership is considered complete.
